December 17, 1961 the Wendy Brook Women's Institute (as it was then known) launched with its first ever Wendy Brook Carol Concert. Over the next 63+ years it would transform a small community group into an exciting 7-day music festival featuring over 400 music and theatre lovers into 200+ categories adjudicated by world class teachers from across western Canada.
The Wendy Brook Music Festival is an independent regional festival happening in Vegreville, Alberta about an hour east of Edmonton. It takes place over seven full days in early March. The largest category is Piano with 2 days of performances. A feature of the festival is two full days of entries in the Ukrainian language, including both Vocal and Speech Arts. Other categories are Strings, Vocals, Community Music, Bands and Instruments and Speech Arts.
Our Festival concludes with the Concert of the Stars which features a selection of the many fine performances which have earned awards.
The Awards themselves, sponsored by local individuals and businesses, are also presented at this concert.
